The exercise

Write a scene where a character realises:
I pushed too hard. I waited too long. I didn’t listen.

What to write

Show:

one behaviour that kept repeating
how the other person responded to it
the moment the character sees it clearly

The other person may or may not be present.

Rules

No self-justification
No apology

Tip

Image the situation in your head like you are watching a movie.

If you have enough time, you can write a series of memories that led up to this moment.
