MAKE IT FICTION

WABB LAB – MEMOIRS – DAY 7

Distance can open new possibilities!

This exercise is meant to help you look at your memories with the distance of a writer and the freedom of an artist. It can help you to rewrite your work and allow yourself to get creative with your own memories. Let go of the truth and play with fantasy and words!

The exercise

Choose one piece from the past WABB- LAB week that held your attention.

Now:

  • change the names
  • adjust ages
  • alter one key detail

Write it as if this memory belongs to someone else. Maybe you can see it in your ‘minds eye’ and watch it like a movie.

Parameters

  • Write for at least 10 minutes non-stop and keep going if the words are flowing!
  • No fact-checking
  • Follow the writing, not the memory
  • If you want to add details or events that didn’t really happen, just go ahead and see where it takes you!
